Soft Computing

The book “SoftComputing” is primarily intended to serve as atextbook for undergraduate students. The book covers syllabus prescribed bymost Indian universities and institutes. This book provides knowledge in asimple and systematic manner.

The book is written as a concise textbook with some noticeable features.

• The book presents an integrated approach that can quickly push the studentsto the frontier of soft computing. However, in order to follow the integratedtreatment of the materials, it is recommended to the reader to read the wholebook, with emphasis on the chapters of their specific interest.
• The chapters contain plenty of examples to illustrate well-selected materials.This can help the reader to focus on the materials of particular interest.Although intended for real-world applications, examples in this book are madesimple so that readers can follow the various basic ideas discussed.

The book has been written keeping the interest of students in mind andintegrates the underlying technical aspects and subsequent research aspects.Students will find that most of the chapters are not difficult to read. Forgraduate students, this book serves as a road map for their own research. Withthe advice you should read a number of technical papers as indicated in thereading list, present your comments, and consider how to apply the theory orhow to improve/extend the work. You may not be able do much in a regularsemester, but you may elaborate on your findings for your thesis or graduateproject (if you are so interested).
